2 cans cherry pie filling
1 white or yellow boxed cake mix
1 stick margarine
Spread cherry pie filling on bottom of 9x13 cake pan. Sprinkle the cake mix on top. Cut margine into approximately 1 Tbsp pieces and place around the top of the cake mix. Cook at 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until browned.

Why is it when you make this it looks delicious, but when Doug does it I feel like I'm eating cake mix powder?
If you don't cook it long enough or don't put enough butter on, it'll be just powdery. You have to let there be enough butter to soak in all over and turn it more cakey. I think the secret probably lies in how you place the pats of butter; there should be even dispersal.
